Alltel’s network speed is on par with the other CDMA/EVDO carriers, Verizon Wireless and Sprint. To prepare for a smooth integration with VZW, Alltel actually made major upgrades to its broadband service moving it from EVDO Rev 0 to the faster EVDO Rev A to be in compliance with the rest of Verizon Wireless’ network.
Alltel’s coverage footprint doesn’t compare very well with the top three providers. It’s essentially a regional carrier that has forged powerful agreements with other companies to create a national presence. This point essentially becomes moot as the integration with VZW continues.
Alltel’s network has proven to offer reliable service on par with the other CDMA/EVDO carriers.
Customer service has been a hallmark of the Alltel service. It is consistently ranked well above the industry average and in markets where the service is available, it has frequently been ranked number one.
